Your desktop is the first thing you see every day — why not make it work for you? Windows lets you customize backgrounds, colors, and themes to create a workspace that’s both functional and inspiring.

To start, go to Settings → Personalization. Here you can:

  • Change Background: Choose from a picture, solid color, or slideshow. Slideshow is great if you want a rotating set of images for variety.
  • Adjust Colors: Pick accent colors for windows, taskbar, and start menu. You can even let Windows pick colors automatically based on your background.
  • Explore Themes: Windows has built-in themes combining wallpapers, sounds, and accent colors. You can download new themes from the Microsoft Store.

A clean, personalized desktop isn’t just for aesthetics — it helps improve focus and reduces visual clutter, especially when paired with a well-organized taskbar and desktop icons.
