If your computer gets lost or stolen, BitLocker can be a lifesaver. It encrypts your hard drive, meaning no one can access your files without your password or recovery key.
BitLocker is available on Windows Pro and Enterprise editions. To enable it, go to Control Panel → System and Security → BitLocker Drive Encryption.
Click Turn on BitLocker next to your drive, follow the prompts, and save the recovery key in a safe place — ideally on another device or printed copy.
Once encryption finishes, your data is fully secured. Even if someone removes the drive and connects it to another computer, they won’t be able to open your files.
BitLocker gives peace of mind, especially if you travel often or handle sensitive information.
