Windows has made file sharing between nearby devices incredibly easy with a feature called Nearby Sharing.
It works over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, letting you send files, links, and documents between two Windows PCs without cables or USB drives.
To enable it:
- Go to Settings → System → Nearby sharing.
- Choose Everyone nearby or My devices only.
- When you right-click a file, select Share → Nearby Sharing.
Both devices should have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on and be within range. The receiver will get a notification to accept the file.
You can also control where received files are saved — by default, they go to your Downloads folder.
It’s perfect for teams, families, or anyone who frequently moves files between laptops. No setup headaches — just quick, cable-free transfers.
